David O. Godwin, Jr., Attorney at Law

David Godwin, a member of the Murray Financial Group & The Retirement Planning Center of Maryland advisory board, is a Partner in the Ellicott City law firm, Godwin, Erlandson, MacLaughlin, Vernon & Daney LLC. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars, and is admitted to practice before several federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Claims, the U.S. Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States. David has been selected to be included in Who’s Who in American Law, International Who’s Who and Professional Who’s Who. A frequent speaker to professional and business groups, David is very active in his community. He is also a former President of the Lions Club of Frederick, and has served on several non-profit boards.

Nick Stovall, CPA, MBA, Chief Tax Strategist

Nick Stovall has 20+ years’ experience in private and public industry accounting, business taxation, IRA taxation, tax law and tax policy, and is the owner, president and chief tax strategist of an independent certified public accounting firm. He is an Ed Slott Elite IRA Advisor, and holds Series 7, 63, 27 and 66 securities designations, and life and health insurance licenses. Nick is a public sector consultant serving individuals and businesses in financial and tax planning, and has served as a past instructor at the National American University. He earned a Master of Business Administration in accounting from the University of St. Thomas, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Taxation from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He is also an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.

Thomas Atkins

Thomas Atkins is a regional consultant to the independent investment advisory industry. He currently counsels with more than one hundred investment advisors in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the District of Columbia. Tom began his career in the investment industry in 1969, and has since held senior level sales and sales management positions with New York Life, G.E., Capital/Polaris and the Capital Financial Group.

As a veteran financial service executive, Tom has championed the “fee for service” business model for the financial industry. He has also authored several articles about the financial industry, and has been a keynote speaker at numerous industry functions.
